Best Poster Prize During the two poster-session the Scientific Committee will be present and evaluate all posters in order to identify the best poster. The evaluation will be based on three main dimensions: scientific quality (1/3), innovativeness (1/3) and visual communication design/quality of the poster 1/3). The Scientific Committee will select the author for the Best poster prize (500 USD), who will be announced during the Gala Dinner. ISAM 2011 after the terror attack in Oslo Oslo, Norway was the scene for a terrible and meaningless terror attack on July 22nd, 2011. The bomb in Oslo and the killings at Utøya have been difficult to comprehend and we will struggle to understand these events for a long time to come. We sincerely thank those who have sent e-mails and letters of sympathy. Despite the attacks, the police and security services of Norway came out with an official statement last week announcing that the security situation was not altered and traveling to Norway is considered safe. As a consequence of this and the general feeling among us all that normal life must go on, we inform you that no changes to the ISAM 2011 Oslo program will be made. The conference will be held as planned, and we wish all delegates welcome to Oslo from September 6th to the 10th. Jørgen G. Bramness Chair LOC Best abstract award The local Scientific Committee and the international Scientific Committee (ISAM-board) of ISAM 2011 presents the Best Abstract Award. The Award of 1000 USD will be given to the author(s) of the abstract representing the most impressive research presented at the conference.

The scientific basis for the treatment of addictions is gaining momentum. The aim of the next ISAM annual meeting is to present up-to-date evidence to inform our professionals and share knowledge in the field of addiction. We welcome both experienced and new professionals to Oslo. The conference aims to reflect that the field of addiction medicine does not operate in a vacuum, but rather is a field in constant interaction with social, economic and political realities in an increasingly globalized world. The slogan of ISAM 2011 in Oslo is “Addiction: science, politics, realities”. We hope to offer you a challenging and thought provoking scientific program when we gather in Oslo in September 2011.
