| The County Governor of Nordland: Nordlandsprosjektet (Norway) The main objective of the project is to identify, qualify, document and spread knowledge about effective approaches, methods and forms of collaboration in relation to young people at risk. Local professional developments through 10 local authority sub-projects are supported by one regional and supervisory central project. The project aims to bind together research and practice and to contribute to knowledge development at the national level. The Federation for Detached Youth Work - FDYW (England) Established through voluntary efforts, the FDYW is a 'grassroots' organization inspired by the need to support, promote and improve practice at the local and national level. The FDYW assembles regional groups, hosts national conferences, issues national guidelines, bulletins and newsletters, as well as coordinating research and training with the aim of influencing social policy. The federation’s work is based on the participation of practitioners to ensure needs are met through effective communication and advocacy. www.detachedyouthwork.info STELLIT (Russia) Established in St Petersburg in 1996, STELLIT is an NGO providing a broad range of services, policy research and public education. The organization has ongoing projects focusing on street children, child victims of commercial sexual exploitation, HIV prevention, lifestyle and health among students. Aktiv Ungdom (Norway) Aktiv Ungdom (Youth in Action) is part of a new European Union youth initiative lasting from 2007 to 2013. The major objective is to contribute to competence development among young people and provide opportunities for informal learning with a European dimension. The initiative is the result of broad consultation with different stakeholders in the youth field and aims to promote a sense of common citizenship among young people across the community. Foundation Regenboog AMOC and the Correlation Network (Netherlands) Foundation Regenboog AMOC provides low threshold services and support towards homeless people and hard drug users. The Foundation runs various drop-in centers and user rooms in Amsterdam and offers the opportunity to spend the day with daytime activities. Through needle exchange a real contribution to the health of intravenous drug users is realized. There is buddy care for seriously ill hard drug users. Furthermore parents, partners and other familymembers of drugusers are supported. The Rainbow Foundation has the task of rising awareness of the problems around addiction and homelessness. The Correlation network is a project of the Foundation Regenboog AMOC and links different initiatives; it will not focus on groups or particular situations, but on the overriding element: marginalization and exclusion. The overall goal of the project is simple as well as complex: improve the access to services. The partners of the network cover a wide range of backgrounds and activities: National Health Institutes, Research Institutes, grass root organizations, service providers and self organizations of service users. Correlation cooperates with other European networks, transnational bodies, organizations from East Europe and the US. In general terms, the network supports the harm reduction approach as an humanistic, evidence-based, cost effective strategy to improve the health and social situation of marginalized people. New Page (Norway) New Page Norway is a NGO running extensive activities for crime and drug prevention and social learning, as well as teaching life skills to troubled youth in Norway and internationally. The organization is part of the CrossWorker project, whose main aim is to develop and implement a standardized training platform for individuals without formal education who work voluntarily alongside professionals in youth-based contexts. CrossWorker is a European Union-financed initiative involving educational institutions in Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, England and Norway. Dynamo International (Belgium) Dynamo is a professional network aimed at developing the exchange of practice methodology, training and reflection at the national and local level. Other objectives include increasing awareness among the public and the authorities of young people in difficulties, promoting outreach social work and building solidarity and partnerships among the network stakeholders. Gyldendal Akademisk Forlag (Norway) The academic division of one of Norway’s leading publishing houses recently published the book Ute – Inne: Oppsøkende sosialt arbeid med ungdom (Outside – Inside: Outreach social work with youth), a textbook supporting a dedicated educational programme for outreach social work targeting young people at risk. The book presents the diversity of methodology within a theoretical and practical context and wider societal perspective. The documentation and development of professional competency is given special attention. The City of Oslo, Agency for Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (Norway) As the host of the conference, AADAS will present Uteseksjonen – a detached outreach youth service in the city centre of Oslo, EXIT – a youth shelter and follow-up service and the post-graduate education in outreach work targeting young people at risk.
